Birthday Celebrations with Friends

I was very priviledged this year to celebrate my birthday here in Maui with Chuck and friends. It made my day getting phone calls from Adam and Pete and I managed to drag out the celebrations for 2 nights of festivites. We began with dinner and a movie at the MACC (Maui Arts & Cultural Center) with our friends, the Browns. We saw the movie RENT which I absolutely loved. It is not to everyone’s taste - I read a number of consumer reviews and people seem to either love it or hate it. But I really enjoyed it. Afterwards we had dinner at the Manana Garage - a Latin restaurant in Wailuku. It was great.

The next evening we celebrated again with the Peppers and Lassows. This time we ate at Cafe O’ Lei. It must be a popular birthday spot because we heard a couple other renditions of Happy Birthday while we were there.

It’s just amazing to be gathered here - half way around the world with friends and talking to family on cell phones. Life is really good.
