Coming Home to Snow

by Nancy ~ March 5th, 2006. Filed under: Mystic.

We returned home from Maui to a snow storm. Everyone tells us that it has been a really mild winter while we were away but it was cold and snowy on our arrival. I only ventured out as far as the front porch to snap this photo. The water and sky were just a gorgeous blue and it was set off by the sparkling snow. While it isn’t Maui, it’s great to be home. It’s so nice to sleep in our own bed and to be home with family and friends. We are still nostalgic about the Maui sunsets and warm breezes but we’ve immediately gotten caught up in our activities and friends here at home. On Saturday I cheered my USTA team on to victory - winning all their matches! Go Team! We got together with friends for dinner and I’m looking forward to playing tennis tomorrow morning. Chuck is happily woodworking in his workshop.

Of course I am still putting stuff away from the trip and trying to remember what one wears in this weather! But I’m getting excited about spring coming and starting to plan what needs to be done in the gardens. Spring is always an exciting time to me … the miracle of rebirth each year is so wonderful to watch.

We’ve already made plans to return to Maui next year. That makes the leaving easier!

There’s no place like home, right? Glad you made it back safely! Thanks for sending a little bit of Maui to Colorado - I love the gift, and it currently sits in a prominent position on my dresser in my bedroom!

Your yard and view look lovely with a fresh blanket of snow! We’re getting some snow in Colorado too, thankfully! After a long stretch of sunny, warm, and dry days, we’re getting some moisture, particularly in the high country. Which means one thing - more skiing and snowshoeing weekends! Love, Carolyn =)
