On The Road to Recovery

Our good friends, Ruth and Dick visited yesterday. It was wonderful to see them both. It was especially nice to see Dick looking good and up and around on crutches. He had a terrible accident in the fall which took a large chunk out of his right leg. I posted some photos of him on the blog back in December showing his eternal aparatus to hold his foot in place while the soft tissue healed. In early February Dick had more surgery to provide some bone replacement along with a metal plate. He’s getting around great on crutches and the doctors say he will be able to put weight on the foot in the near future.
Dick was even able to get downstairs to Chuck’s workshop to see the progress on Chuck’s latest projects.
In case you missed the original blog - this photo of Dick is less than a month after the original accident. The external apparatus is holding the foot to the upper leg because the muscle and bone were destroyed in the accident. We are so thankful for what can be accomplished with modern medicine. And Dick has maintained a wonderful attitude throughout the whole process.
