The Linda Connly Breast Cancer Message
by Nancy ~ August 22nd, 2006. Filed under: Friends, Health. The Message
Every woman should do these three things
1. Get a yearly physical exam
2. Starting at age 40 get a yearly mammogram
3. Do a monthly self exam
Early detection is critical for long term survival.
This event was so very, very special because Linda herself is so special. She is a wonderfully accomplished business woman, wife and mother. But the most unique thing about Linda is how much she sincerely cares about other people. As soon as you meet her you feel the warmth, love and interest of her gaze and you instantly adore her. She is a person you always want to be around. The event yesterday was crowded with hundreds of people from her lifetime from childhood on. All of her friends and family were completely delighted to see her happy, healthy and vibrant self. She is using her experience to help others by talking to newly diagnosed patients and by doing this wonderful fundraiser. She is truly an inspiration.
Linda looks the picture of health.
This event was a spectcular event - raising $30,000! The funds raised yesterday will go directly to the Mass General Hospital Breast Cancer Research. Linda’s surgeon, Dr. Michelle Specht and Mass General are sponsoring a new treatment protocol for the diagnosis of breast cancer through breast MRI’s. This protocol can help to eliminate the multiple surgeries that 50% of breast cancer patients have to go through.
This event was really a wonderful celebration. It was organized by Linda and her brother, Todd. The whole family participated. There was a delightful fashion show organized by Todd’s wife Dena. The grandchildren were just delightful parading and hamming up on the stage in their fashions, hand-in-hand. Linda & her sister, Marisa, sister-in-law Dena, the grandmothers were all part of the event. It was a true celebration and we all felt happy and delighted to be part of it.
Linda & Todd are awarding the raffle items to the winners.
My niece, Carolyn, also participates n a breast cancer event – she’s just completed her second Triathalon for the Cure. Visit her blog at http://www.carolyninco.blogspot.com/

Nancy and Chuck,
I can’t thank you enough for make the long trip to support our event.
We were absolutely thrilled with the outcome from the golf tournament and the fashion show. With great support from our family and friends, we were able to promote awareness of breast cancer while also raising a significant amount of funds to help improve treatment for newly diagnosed patients.
We are pleased to report that with the very successful live auction, raffle tickets sales along added donations, we have far exceeded our estimate of raising $30,000. We have now raised $35,000!!!!
Thank you for such a touching write up, for sharing the story and my advice to others.
As we all know, it is all about early detection. Early Detection Saves Lives!
Warm regards,
Linda
